Khachen Areni Reserve 2021

This wine is made exclusively from the finest Areni Noir grapes, which have been carefully selected from our premier blocks. After undergoing alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, it was aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels. The aging process was then continued in stainless steel tanks and bottles. This expressive red wine is excellent to enjoy now, but it also has the potential to mature and improve over a decade or more with careful cellaring.

TASTING NOTES
The wine reveals nuanced notes of black plum, morello cherry, black pepper, and licorice with its velvety body and refined balance. The wine is unfiltered.

FOOD PAIRING
This wine is a versatile companion that pairs excellently with grilled meats, lasagna or spaghetti Bolognese, mushroom dishes, aged cheese, and classic Margherita pizza.

THE VINEYARDS
Our vineyards thrive in the Aghavnadzor Village of the Vayots Dzor Province. Nestled on the windblown steppes of the region, our vines grow at an altitude of 1400 meters above sea level. For thousands of years, Armenian viticulturists have cultivated the indigenous Areni Noir grape in these lands. The climate in this region varies significantly, with temperatures dropping to -18°C in winter and rising to +38°C in summer. This temperature fluctuation allows the grapes to mature gradually and fully, developing acidity and flavor. Harvesting takes place from the end of September to the beginning of October. Our rocky volcanic soils are free from phylloxera.
