Karas Single Vineyard Areni

This single-vineyard expression of Armenia’s flagship grape, Areni, is grown in the volcanic soils of the Ararat Valley and crafted with precision to showcase purity, structure, and elegance. The result is a distinctive red wine that embodies both heritage and terroir.

Grapes are harvested manually in the early morning and carefully sorted twice. Maceration and fermentation are conducted in Armenian oak barrels under temperature control, followed by approximately eight months of aging in traditional Armenian amphoras—“Karases”—which enhance the wine’s finesse and earthy complexity.

Origin: Ararat Valley, Armavir Region – Armenia
Soil: Volcanic. Lightly eroded clay formed by basalt, high levels of carbonate and limestone, volcanic tuff and alluvial stones
Climate: Continental, cold semi-arid with warm summers and dry cold winters. Annual precipitation level is around 305 mm
Vinification: Early morning manual harvest in 20 kg boxes. Double selection. Controlled temperature maceration and fermentation in Armenian oak. Aged around 8 months in amphoras (“Karases”)
